Baby Bloomers- Apples

Today we read about apples and the yummy things you can make with apples.  Our group is large for our room but they are great at staying seated and participating when we sing, dance, or do finger plays.  We read

Apples, Apples  by Salina Yoon
Ten Red Apples by Virginia Miller
I Am an Apple by Jean Marzollo

Opening Song: “The More We Get Together”
Clapping rhyme: “Patty-Cake, Patty Cake”
Wiggle rhyme
Open, Shut Them

Flannel: Five Red Apples- we didn't use our flannel today but counted along with one of our books.
Five red apples hanging on the tree
Five red apples, big and round and shiny
Along came a child with a hungry, grumbly tummy
And picked one apple right out of the tree
Four red apples hanging on the tree
Four red apples, big and round and shiny
Along came a child with a hungry, grumbly tummy,
And picked one apple right out of the tree.

Way Up High in the Apple Tree- we had lots of fun shaking the apples down.
Way up high in the apple tree (raise hands up high)
Two little apples I did see (make two fists for apples)
I shook that tree as hard as I could (pretend to shake tree)
And d-o-w-n came the apples (let  hands fall to ground)
Mmmm, were they good! (rub tummy)

Criss, Cross, Applesauce
Criss, cross, applesauce (draw an X with your finger on the child’s back)
Spiders crawling up your back (wiggle your fingers up the child’s back)
Tight squeeze (give a big hug)
Cool breeze (blow gently on the child’s neck)
Now you’ve got the shiveries! (tickle child)

Closing song: “We Wave Goodbye Like This”
